Bundaberg Regional Council has taken proactive measures in supporting landowners' efforts in controlling noxious weeds by incorporating the versatile spray trailers from Rapid Vehicle Systems. Designed for durability and flexibility, these trailer units help landowners manage weeds in large and rural properties.

Key Features of Bundaberg’s Weed / Herbicide Spray Trailers:
  1. 400L Single Reel Units with 100m Hose:
Each unit is equipped with a 400-liter capacity tank and a single reel that offers 100 meters of hose length. This provides operators with a large spraying range, making it easier to cover significant ground without frequent repositioning.
  2. Maruyama Direct-Drive Pump:
The Council opted for the Maruyama pump with a direct drive from the engine. This design eliminates the need for a gearbox or other moving parts, which significantly reduces maintenance needs and increases the reliability of the system, keeping it operational for longer periods.
  3. Electric Start Honda Engines with Solar Panels:
Since the units may sit idle for extended periods between hires, they have been equipped with electric start Honda engines, supplemented by solar panels. The solar setup ensures the batteries remain charged, making the units ready for action whenever needed, without the worry of a flat battery.
  4. Boomless Nozzles with In-Cab Control:
For user convenience, the spraying units feature boomless nozzles that are operated via solenoids. An in-cab controller on extended cables allows operators to activate and control the spraying system directly from their tow vehicle, enhancing safety and ease of use in difficult terrains.
  5. Retractable Brackets for Nozzles:
The boomless nozzles are mounted on retractable brackets, providing protection when not in use. This prevents accidental damage while the unit is in transit or when navigating tight or overgrown areas.
  6. Skid Units Mounted on Flat Deck Trailers:
To enhance fleet management flexibility, the Council has chosen to mount skid units on flat deck trailers. This design allows for easier disposal or reassignment of assets when they reach the end of their lifecycle, aligning with the Council’s fleet replacement schedule.

By investing in these advanced spray trailers, Bundaberg Regional Council is empowering landowners to take control of noxious weeds efficiently, while ensuring long-term asset management and ease of use. These trailers are designed for practical weed control applications, promoting environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.

Bundaberg Regional Council ensures that landowners have access to effective tools for noxious weed control. This not only aids in protecting the region’s agricultural productivity but also safeguards its natural ecosystems from invasive plant species.

For fleet managers in local governments or similar organizations, these units offer a practical, low-maintenance solution that balances performance, cost-efficiency, and long-term durability.
